Khiara (Key-ar-ra) is a Bahamian born Afro-Caribbean artist who is based in the US (Houston, TX). She is a former Miss Bahamas and a contestant in the 2009 Miss Universe competition. She is a versatile Neo Soul, Contemporary Pop singer and songwriter. She uses her music to express her feelings, thoughts and charisma and infuses R&B, Folk, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Soul, Dance, Country, Caribbean and Africana music into her songs.
She has been featured on many Bahamian artists’ albums and has toured in the US as a background vocalist. After gaining exposure, she sang lead with the Xtra Band and recorded two smash hit songs with them – “Private Dancer” and the remake of the T-Connection’s 80’s smash, “Best of My Love”.
She has opened for numerous artists including Fantasia, India Arie, Allison Hinds, and Biggie Irie, also for reggae superstars; Beres Hammond, Taurus Riley, Capleton, Buju Banton, Morgan Heritage and Beenie Man.
She in now embarking on a solo career. She is the featured artist and song writer for her debut single, Are You the One, which was produced by Hit Island Studios. Are You the One is a high energy blend of Top 40 pop dance music with a strong underlying Caribbean rhythm. Her video for the single can be seen on YouTube and selected TV stations. With the success of her single, Are You the One, Khiara’s plans for 2014 includes working towards releasing a second single which is currently in production.
