Uprising web jpeg Poster 1

It’s been a long time coming but a new group of Jamaican singers and songwriters are taking reggae back to the ‘concious’ era that first brought the music to the worlds attention through the great Bob Marley. Jesse Royal, Jah9, Protoje and Cronixx are four of artists representing an explosion of young talent that the tiny island of Jamaica is once again producing.

UK based promoters Afrinaisance plan to showcase the extraordinary wealth of emerging artists currently breaking big in their home country through a series of UK tours that will also feature rising stars and legends of the UK scene.

Launching in May, with support from Arts Council England, the first Uprising tour features Jesse Royal who’s spiritual lyrics and stunning voice put him at the forefront of Jamaica’s burgeoning roots reggae revival. Reggae legend and Massive Attack collaborator Mad Professor represents the UK, along with Aisha.

Through the Uprising series, Afrinaisance plans to establish a new UK touring circuit brings new audiences to reggae and helps to usher in a new golden era for one of this, continuously evolving and relevant of music genres.

DrewKaboom (@drewkaboom) – Sacrifice

DrewKaboom2014

EXPLOSIVE HIP-HOP/INDIE NYC ARTIST BURSTS ONTO THE SCENE

The debut album AS FAR AS RAP GOES: is a symbol of the longevity DrewKaboom, a hip-hop artist, singer, and writer; is ready to undertake. Aside from the familiar “boom-bap” sonics; this released 10 track album features a soulful structure. It seamlessly follows the unwritten law of old school hip hop, when music stood on its own. However, this album is not a regurgitation of times passed. DrewKaboom is an independent lyricist that doesn’t care about form or hype. He cares about substance. This is about art.

DrewKaboom encountered many different styles of hip hop throughout his life. He believes that when you say you’re a hip-hop artist that means something. It’s more what you’re saying than how you say it. Everything in hip hop when he growing up was about the quality and substance.
