Joel “JQ” Quinones was born on August 15, 1985 in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Although from the Caribbean, JQ gravitated more towards Hip Hop. He developed a style combining rap, his Cruzan accent and Spanish influence into a blend not commonly heard. JQ is known for his rapid delivery and versatility.

JQ garnered respect as an emcee in USVI by winning the You Got Served Talent Competition in 2004. Soon after JQ opened up for Lil Wayne in St. Croix’s Drive-In Night Club. In 2006, JQ moved to Atlanta, GA to further his music career and education.

Growing up in the projects in USVI (Aureo Diaz Heights) JQ is no stranger to struggle. A lack of extracurricular activities and jobs forces people in the island to turn to crime or leave. JQ supports the improvement of education, healthcare, and the job market in USVI and worldwide. JQ had an aunt who succumbed to breast cancer and is interested in all efforts to find a cure. JQ also supports At Risk Youth and all other efforts to assist the less fortunate because that is where he began.
