Ed Roman (@specialedroman) – “Jamaica”

Award-winning Canadian musician, Ed Roman has released the music video for his latest single, “Jamaica.” The video/short film was shot during Ed’s recent visit to Oracabessa, where Ed and his wife delivered a shipment of humanitarian aid items. Clocking in at more than 5 minutes, the video release mixes music video and documentary-style footage of local musicians, dancers, artists and performers from the island, as well as a mimed performance from Ed. Parts of the video were shot just around the corner from where Bob Marley was born, grew up and is now buried, known as Nine Mile. Watch the inspiring video for “Jamaica” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caBbTg-kkdA (starts at 1:04).

Ed Roman says, “Jamaica is one of those places that you cannot help but feel great oppression, see the extreme poverty but at the same time the incredible ingenuity, artistic ability and cultural connectedness that we as the Western civilization have lost a great deal of. If you say you have been to Jamaica and you spent time in a resort you really actually haven’t visited the country at all.’

Rhett May (@RhettMay) – “The Violence of Ice”

The-Violence-of-Ice

Australian based Rock Singer-songwriter, Rhett May, is tackling his home country’s (and the rest of the world’s) Ice Epidemic head-on, with the release of his visually haunting and dark (but poignant) new music video, “The Violence Of Ice.” Rhett May uses his influential platform as a musician to spread a much needed message over beautifully placed guitar riffs, amazing vocals and stellar songwriting. You can watch this groundbreaking video on Youtube. The video and song recently won Beat 100’s Bronze/Best Song & Best Video Awards.

The video leaves you questioning yourself and your stance on drugs. It shows the dangers that come with the consumption and abuse of Ice and how it wrecks havoc on families, relationships and ultimately pulls apart the seams of a stable society. It is exceedingly rare to have a rock singer who has such a strong stance on the use of drugs, and that is exactly the point Rhett aims to make; that change is a necessity.

With a musical career that spans back to the seventies when his band Lucifer supported legendary rock band Queen, Rhett May is a voice of experience in a rock world which has become increasingly shallow. He has toured the world, seen the music industry from the inside and watched the dark side of the business consume those around him. Throughout those experiences Rhett May continually turned away the excesses of the Industry, choosing instead to write his own story as opposed to those who fell into the clutches of addiction.

Largely influenced by the classic songwriting of John Lennon, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, Rhett May is a rock singer who has moulded his own unique sound over several decades in the Industry. His self-produced music is simple and raw with plenty to say about May’s take on the modern world. It is this all inclusive method that spawned the motivational and much needed new music video “The Violence of Ice”.

Having spent a large part of his childhood in Calcutta, India, his guitar led songs are infused with the sounds of the Indian streets, giving his music a different flavor from the majority of current cookie cutter music. By blending classic sensibilities with a twist of Indian culture he has created a string of upcoming singles, the first of which is “The Violence of Ice”. The video for the track has received over 48,000 views to date on YouTube and the audio release will follow on October 2 in the UK/Australia, and on October 3 in the US.

His second single audio and video track, “Rich Bitch” were both released on August 21/22. See the video on YouTube and hear or buy the audio track on iTunes. Both tracks are part of his full length album “Fast Cars & Sitars” which will street on October 30 (UK & AUS) and October 31 (US).
