Yemi Marie entertained teen athletes attending the 7th Annual East Lake Windy City Track & Field Banquet on April 18 at the Parkway Ballroom in Chicago. About 300 teen athletes attended the annual event hosted by former track stars Elzie L. Higginbottom, president of East Lake Management and Development Corp., and Dr. Conrad Worrill, executive director of the Jacob Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies of Northeastern Illinois University.

Yemi Marie received an enthusiastic reception from the crowd as she performed “Hero” from her new recording and her take on Alicia’s Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You.” She also gave away dozens of CDs that feature her popular song “Love Bop,” which is creating a sensation around Chicago and getting spins on WGCI and Power 92.3.

The teen performer was thrilled to meet 2014 Olympic Silver Medalist Aja Evans of the U.S. Bobsledding team. Evans was a track and field star athlete in college.

Yemi Marie also had an opportunity to meet track star Alexandria Marie Anderson, who was the banquet’s keynote speaker.
