Shade Sheist - SNFIYF

Shade Sheist celebrates another year of life this month by giving his fans the gift of a new album announcement as well as a brand-new single. It has been over 6 years since UMG alumnus and influential independent recording artist Shade Sheist has released an official solo album and today he revealed his forthcoming “BLACKOPS” LP online, much to the surprise of west coast hip hop fans across the world. Shade Sheist also unveiled a new single, a clever interpolation of a 90’s classic re-titled “Still No Future In Yo Frontin,” which features Oceanside California female emcee Nina Macc. Shade alongside Virginia’s “Sample King” Krohme, rebuilt MC Breed’s infamous 1991 hit single “Ain’t No Future In Yo Frontin” from scratch down to the vinyl scratching, performed by acclaimed So.Cal DJ Dennis Blaze. The latest female attraction making noise on the western hemisphere, Nina Macc, graces the track with a noteworthy verse and adds an unexpected twist to an authentic remake. The free mp3 is now available at Shade Sheist’s official website www.ShadeSheist.net. “BLACKOPS” is slated for an early 2014 release worldwide.

Dante Hillmedo (@DanteHillmedo) – This Is Dante Episode 01

photoSM

Bronx, NY native Andrew Hillmedo Jr. p/k/a Dante Hillmedo is an American actor who’s appeared in a handful of movies, most notably 2008′s major motion picture Baby Mama starring Saturday Night Live alumni Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and is now trying his hand at a career in rap – with little success. Hillmedo will document his misadventures in an documentary called “This Is Dante”, which he is producing independently with German-American entertainment company Block Starz Music. “This Is Dante” will document the fledgling actor turned rapper’s ascent – or lack thereof – in the music industry in a series of funny webisodes to air at www.ThisIsDante.com beginning this fall. Hillmedo says the series will detail his career false starts, including an ill-fated collaboration with distant cousin Slick Rick, and missed opportunities, like a nervous audition that lost him a role in the Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious, with “self-deprecating humor”.

Sunny Afternoon – Zamp Nicall’s Jazz on The Rocks

imagery_by_david_n_donihue_for_Sunny_Afternoon

Weathered Underground director David N. Donihue returns to experimental roots with lyric video for Jazz On The Rocks

For “Sunny Afternoon”, Donihue chose themes of both remembrance and finding “peace in the moment”. The video takes us into the eyes of several old men, whose stories of “losing everything” and “drunken cruelty” they attempt to escape through enjoying the peace of the sunshine. As the warmth of the lyrics grow, so does their daydreams, culminating in gorgeous colors after a long drab ride.

Donihue came of age as an experimental filmmaker in Seattle. His efforts as a writer brought him critical acclaim for the film Parzania while as a director, he helmed the wildly intoxicating The Weathered Underground (Brea Grant of Heroes), which three years later still screens to cult audiences at underground parties all over the country.

Donihue returns to his roots for “Sunny Afternoon” where he uses both found footage and shot elements morphed together to create visuals that one rarely sees executed with such slickness and precision. We’re fans of this guy and can’t wait to see what comes out of his notoriously “strange mind” next.
